Grading Policy
Grading Policy
Attendance
Beyond the language of the Attendance Policy explained in The Student Handbook, the following rules apply to AP3:
1.If you arrive late to school and miss a graded assignment in my class, you are required to see me the same day to complete the work.
2.If you have signed up for a field trip that will prevent you from attending my class, you are required to see me in advance to arrange a make-up schedule.
3.If you are absent on the day of a graded assignment and have the ability to email me, please do so.
Grading Policy
I use a Total Points grading system. At the end of each quarter, I total the amount of points you have earned and divide by the total number of possible points. The following scale applies:
A89.5 --100
B79.5 – 89.4
C69.5 – 79.4
D59.5 – 69.4
F59.4 and below
eSembler, the North Allegheny online gradebook, will be open for student/parent read-only access this year. If you or your parents suspect any discrepancies in my record-keeping, please notify me at once.
Note:Late homework will not be accepted for graded points unless you have an excused absence for illness or family emergency.
Timed Essays
The largest component of your grade each quarter will come from in-class timed essays. You can expect four such essays per quarter, in addition to reading quizzes, homework assignments, and typed ‘process’ papers. Each timed essay will be evaluated according the College Board’s AP Rubric, the raw score of which is then converted using the following scale:
AP Raw Score Converted Gradebook Score
9 ---------- 95% and up
8 ---------- 90%
7 ---------- 85%
6 ---------- 80%
5 ---------- 75%
4 ---------- 70%
3 ---------- 65%
2 ---------- 60%
1 ---------- 55% and down
